Knowledge search works without a model. A small pretrained language model can optionally be downloaded to your device for experimental conversations. Loading it may be slow on a phone.

About the experiment
POM is an early local-first assistant, not a newly trained foundation model. Its starting model is a small pretrained open-weight system, not a model fine-tuned on the founder's life.
Black-centered means serious cultural and historical understanding—not invented dialect, stereotyping, pretending to be a human, or speaking for every Black person.
There is no remote AI server, autonomous moderation, access to other apps, or guarantee that the model works on every phone. An internet connection is needed to download the optional model and its software.
